Woman Transforms Table Found On Side Of The Road Into Beautiful And Unique Furniture Piece

I have always been an avid yardsaler and antiquer. So when I’m out and about and see that someone has left furniture on the side of the road, I stop to inspect it about 99% of the time. As it turns out, DIY fanatic Alicia feels the same way! As covered by Hometalk, Alicia found a discarded antique table on the side of the road and transformed it into an absolutely stunning piece of furniture.

The table Alicia found was missing the two glass top pieces and had cuts and scratches all over the wood. After stripping and sanding the table’s legs and frame, Alicia began applying a paint layering technique. She then built a frame that would house the cushion she made for the top.

The cushion was made from a thick foam, which Alicia then covered with a French-inspired fabric. She distressed the legs and frame of the table, giving it a beautiful shabby-chic vibe. Alicia finished off the table with a clear wax, leaving the creases of the table dark. This gave such a unique look to the table’s finish, as well as some great dimension.

In keeping with the aesthetic of traditional benches, Alicia covered the bottom in felt to give everything a clean, finished look. The end result is an antique, French-inspired bench that would look perfect in an entryway, living room, or bedroom. Great work, Alicia! I’m not particularly handy, but your DIY project may inspire me to try my hand at upcycling furniture in the future!
